2016 Aspect Merlot
MERLOT
VINEYARDS: Made from our highest and steepest vineyards with a South Westerly Aspect. The soils are decomposed granite on heavy clay. The vineyards yield between 5 and 6 tons per hectare and were planted in 1998.
CELLAR: Maturation takes place in 225 litre French oak barriques for 24 months. 30% new oak is with the remainder made up of second and third fill barriques.
TASTING NOTES: Red currents, black plums, fresh fennel and sage. Juicy fruit on the entry with a broad chalky tannin and fresh acidity bringing balance and length.

2018 Vantage Pinotage
PINOTAGE
VINEYARDS: The vineyard is 2 hectares of bushvine on a granitic ridge high on the estate. The vines are 19 years old and yields around 5 tons per hectare.
CELLAR: Fermented uninnoculated in 7000 litre French oak tanks. 30% of the stems are added back to the tanks. Maturation takes place in 225 litre French oak barriques for 18 months, 30% new. Unfined and unfiltered.
TASTING NOTES: The palate is bright and juicy with a delicate acidity and soft tannin and a long, lightly savoury finish.

2020 First Light Chenin Blanc
CHENIN BLANC
VINEYARDS: Cool. Southerly aspects, combined with fresh maritime breezes provide ideal conditions for optimal ripening of the grapes. The vineyards are all planted on decomposed granite and table mountain sandstone soils.
CELLAR: Fermentation is allowed to proceed uninoculated in stainless steel tanks. After spending seven months on the fine lees the wine is racked and bottled.
TASTING NOTES: Oranges, lemons and passion fruit. Floral violets and honeysuckle. Bright juicy citrus fruit with a limey acid bringing freshness. A mild salinity on the finish gives great length.

2017 Chronicle Cape Blend
CAPE BLEND
VINEYARDS: 17 vineyard blocks over 55 hectares and 8 soil types. The vines vary in age, from 10 to 26 years old. This variation in terroir and varieties result in a unique, complex wine.
CELLAR: All blocks are harvested and vinified separately. Spontaneous fermentation. The Syrah component undergoes carbonic maceration. Each component is then matured separately in barrel for one year before blending and maturation for another year in barrel, 30% new french oak. Unfined and unfiltered.
TASTING NOTES: Black current, ripe strawberries, red cherries, anise, thyme, cedar and tomato leaf. Juicy fruit on the entry with broad, polished tannins and a bright acidity that brings freshness and length.
