PREMIUM RANGE

Our Premium range forms the foundation of the Remhoogte portfolio, all being  grown, made and bottled on the estate they are uniquely Remhoogte. The wines are inspired by those made by our father and driven by a goal of consistency and individuality.

2015 Aspect Merlot

MERLOT

VINEYARDS: Made from our highest and steepest vineyards with a South Westerly Aspect. The soils are decomposed granite on heavy clay. The vineyards yield between 5 and 6 tons per hectare and were planted in 1998.

CELLAR: Maturation takes place in 225 litre French oak barriques for 24 months. 30% new oak is with the remainder made up of second and third fill barriques.

TASTING NOTES: The palate is full and juicy with polished tannins and a lively acidity bringing freshness and length.

2017 Vantage Pinotage

PINOTAGE

VINEYARDS: The vineyard is 2 hectares of bush vines on a granitic ridge high on the estate. The vineyards were planted in 2000. The grapes are hand harvested and then sorted in the cellar.

CELLAR: A portion is fermented in 500 litre open top oak barrels and a portion in tank. Maturation takes place in 225 litre French oak barriques for 20 months. 30% new oak is used.

TASTING NOTES: The palate is bright and juicy with a delicate acidity and soft tannin. The wine will mature for 5 to 10 years.

2019 First Light Chenin Blanc

CHENIN BLANC

VINEYARDS: The vines are between 30 and 50 years old and the first to receive the light from the rising sun over the Simonsberp mountain. Grapes are hand harvested.

CELLAR: Fermentation is allowed to proceed uninoculated in stainless steel tanks. After spending seven months on the fine lees the wine is racked and bottled.

TASTING NOTES: The nose is clean with fresh melon, passion fruit and citrus. The palate is zesty with a creamy acidity.

2016 Chronicle Cape Blend

CAPE BLEND

VINEYARDS: A component from all 19 vineyard blocks are used in this wine. Our vineyards are planted on 8 different soil types over the estate’s 50 hectares.

CELLAR: All batches are fermented wild before going to barrel. Each batch is kept separate for 1 year in barrel before the blend is made up, the wine is then returned to barrel for another year in 30% new French oak barriques.

TASTING NOTES: The palate is juicy with broad, soft tannins and a bright acidity that brings freshness and length.
